By borrowing from our legendary recording Custom drums, we are proud to introduce new 100% Birch Shell stage Custom. ShellThe shell is a key factor in a drum's ability to "rumble," or resonate. Accordingly, the Stage Custom employs 100% birch - a classic in the realm of high-class drum kits. Moreover, with its six-ply structure the Stage Custom accurately conveys the vibrations produced at the impact surface, achieving performance that overwhelms anything in its class. Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System - YESSThe secret of our YESS system is twofold: First, it provides minimum contact of hardware with shell; second, it connects that hardware at the nodal point* of the drum - the point at which it will not interfere with shell vibration. Nylon bushings on rod clamps afford maximum stability. The YESS system permits toms to be placed close together, and does not interfere with quick head changes. On floor toms, our YESS system offers wide open sustain while keeping toms stable under the heaviest strokes. * Nodal point mounting is patented by the Noble & Cooley Drum Company. Ball Mount & ClampA tribute to Yamaha design technology, our original ball mount and clamp has gone through very few modifications over the years. A large, ultra-hard resin ball sits in an attractive chromed housing, held in place with a titanium ergonomic wing bolt. It is the ultimate drummer-friendly mount, offering non-slip positioning virtually anywhere the drummer can imagine. Additionally, it permits tuning of the bottom head by simply rotating the drum. Additional Air HolesHistorically, most drums have been vented with a single air hole. Yamaha engineers studied bass drum dynamics and, with the Absolute Series, provided the customary top vent hole one the player's side, and then added holes located around the front end of the shell. The additional air holes permit additional air, the result of "internal combustion", to escape, providing a distinctly more comfortable beater action, more controllable on the rebound. The reduction in beater vibration and backlash in particularly noticeable when an intact head without a hole is used on the audience side.

Steve Gadd Signature Snare Drum The Steve Gadd Signature snare drum is a limited-edition release to commemorate the legendary drummer’s 40-year relationship with Yamaha. Only 200 will be sold in the U.S., each with a special black drum key and a certification card to make this a must-have for fans and collectors alike. Gadd worked with Yamaha R&D to produce this special snare. It features a 14” x 5.5” steel shell with aluminum die-cast hoops, both finished in black nickel, and comes with a 10-strand wire to enhance the articulation of this beautiful instrument. Steel Shell The 1.2 mm steel shell delivers volume and attack with cutting rimshots, and is plated in black nickel, Steve Gadd’s finish of choice. 10-Strand Snare Wire A Steve Gadd-style 10-strand snare wire combined with a deeper 3.5 mm snare bed, produces the signature staccato Steve Gadd tone, while reducing unwanted sympathetic snare buzz. Aluminum Die-Cast Hoops The 3.0 mm aluminum die-cast hoops eliminate unwanted overtones while delivering a focused attack, and is plated in black nickel, Steve Gadd’s finish of choice. One-Piece Lugs The chrome one-piece lugs are a modern take on a traditional design and ensure optimal sustain. Center Bead The center bead is fixed to the outside instead of the inside of the drum, to produce a more open and articulate sound. Remo P3 Head The snare drum is fitted with a Remo Powerstroke® P3 Coated batter head for a focused tone.
